When I woke up from my coma, Which I had been in for about a month, I could not speak or move much, just a finger. However I had an overwhelming feeling come over me letting me know that it was going to be ok. I remember from my time being in the Hospital, being in and out of consciousness for a while, glimpses of people coming to visit, my youngest sister letting me listen to her music via ear buds with her phone, And getting my trich from my trichotomy removed. Now the cool thing about that (I know you don't hear that a lot) Was when I was in grade 5 I had a cyst on my neck that had to get removed so I had a scar on my neck since I was in grade 5, and when they did the trichotomy the scar happened to be in the exact same spot! Silver lining to that is I was use to having a scar on my neck.
Another few memories from the days where I could not speak was; I had to wear these compression stockings however the elastic at the top was way too tight and was digging into my leg and all I can do to notify anybody was scratching at my leg (This was all done with the right side of my body because I cannot feel the left). Luckily my ex was extremely in tuned to me so he figured it out.
In addition to that experience, was when a nurse put me in this small bathroom by this sling contraption on the toilet. At that point in time I felt like a useless meat sack, I could not talk at the time or move my legs, My legs were not in the right position to pee and it was the first time I was on a toilet since being catheterized. The nurse had just left me in there to, what if I fell over! I remember just resting on the back of the toilet and the walls being close on either side, like I said it was a small bathroom. However I couldn't tell a nurse when I was done or tell her that there was pee on my pajama pants, they were a fleecy material too so it didn't feel great, Talk about suffering in silence!
One of the most ridiculous memories I have being there was having a bath in a whirlpool bathtub and having the trach hole in my neck, Three guesses on what happened next. It only took a split second while the nurse had her back turned I slipped a little and my neck hole went under the water, it was such a weird feeling drowning with your head above water.
I saved this story for last because I don't know if it was real or just a figment of my imagination. I remember sitting up but getting sick. I was getting tube fed back in those days and what they would put into the food pouch was these little round balls of vanilla flavored pebbles. To this day I still wonder why the heck they were flavored since they go right into your stomach and past your mouth. Anyway back to the story, I thought when I was getting sick those little pebbles were coming out of my neck hole... I don't even know if that is possible lol
All of these happened when conscious, which was the shorter part of my stay at the hospital. I'm going on 12 years of and things EXACTLY like this happened so often, in the past eleven years it's actually hard to believe that this stuff can actually happen it's been so comical that I went into comedy!
